Renfrewshire

Renfrewshire is a county located in the west central Lowlands. Renfrew, from which the county gets its name, is the county town, but the largest town in the region is Paisley. 

The region contains a mixture of land, from hills to woodlands and coastline, plus a variety of inland parks. Parks in fact dominate much of the region, with notable parks including the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park (home to Castle Semple Loch and County Park) in the west, and Gleniffer Braes country park – Scotland’s largest regional park – in the south. As a result, the area is a relatively popular holiday destination. The coastline is formed largely by the estuary of the River Clyde, and the land to the southwest of the coastal strip encompasses higher ground which remains largely rural and hilly.

The climate in Renfrewshire is temperate, with average temperatures of 13°C. The region receives a fair amount of rain in the autumn and winter, averaging at 120mm per month from September through to February. Rainfall reduces almost by half during late spring and summer, as temperatures rise. Therefore, homeowners should ensure they water lawns and gardens thorough during this time.
