Glamorganshire

Glamorgan is one of the thirteen historic counties of Wales, situated in the south, and is often referred to as the ‘crucible of the Industrial Revolution’, due to its wealth of natural resources including metals and coal. The county town is Cardiff, which is also the capital city of Wales. 

There are three distinct geographical areas of of Glamorgan: the agricultural vale or lowlands consisting of limestone to the southeast; mountains with deep valleys to the north, home of the Brecon Beacons, made of Old Red Sandstone; and the Gower Peninsula, the first ever established Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The climate is typically mild, with average lows of 4°C and highs of 15°C. May through to September offers plenty of daylight hours, making gardening in Glamorgan a pleasant experience. July though to September also see the highest rainfall, allowing garden lawns and flora to flourish.
